1. How did the englihtenment influence the Age of Revolution?

The Enlightenment influenced the Age of Revolution through a variety of different ways. Many philosophers started to appear sharing new ideas which inspired many of the groups revolting against their leaders or government. One of the main philosophers which inspired three major revolutions was John Locke. John Locke, helped start the Glorious Revolution, the American Revolution and the French Revolution. John Locke for example influenced the American Revolution. He had once written down "... preservation of their lives, liberties and property..." these words are similar to those written in the declaration of the independence where Thomas Jefferson writes “…life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” (http://frprojectwh.wix.com/thefrenchrevolution)

Another time in history where it shows that the enlightenment influenced the Age of Revolution is with the French Revolution, many philosophers inspired it such as John Locke again and Jean Jacque Rousseau. Jean Jacque stimulated the people by giving them the idea of equality triggering the revolution. Overall, the enlightenment influenced the age of revolution due to the variety of different ideas that the philosophers introduced.

2. The French Revolution was a major world event. Not only did it topple the French monarchy, it caused a ripple effect around the world. How did the French revolution cause others revolutions?

The French revolution was a major event that occurred in the world, which also helped cause, other revolutions to occur. The French Revolution helped countries such as Brazil, Haiti and the Rio de Plata Revolution. The French Revolution helped activate the Brazilian Revolution by conquering Spain causing it to fall to the French power. This led the royal family to flee from Portugal. Brazil and Portugal due to this became rivals since the Brazilians wanted keep their power whilst Portugal wanted them to be a dependent colony. (http://joshmejia2.wix.com/brazilianrevolution) The French Revolution also affected the Haiti revolution by oppressing the rights of the French people causing a revolt. The people revolting overthroned the king changing the rights a little bit but keeping the slaves rights the same causing them to revolt.  (http://learnhaitirevolution.weebly.com/ ) Lastly, the French Revolution aided in the start of the Rio de Plata Revolution through Napoleon. Napoleon conquered Spain, the revolters saw this as an opportunity to revolt since Spain was weak causing the revolution to start. (http://viceroyaltyriodelaplata.weebly.com/) Overall, the French Revolution through its long period of time helped trigger many revolutions through out the years.

3. Inequality- social, political and economic- often causes revolutions. What role did inequality play in the age of revolutions?

Inequality played a great role in different revolutions such as the French Revolution, the New Granada Revolution and the Haitian.Revolution. The French revolution was caused from inequality since many people were being abused by their government causing the people to revolt. (http://frprojectwh.wix.com/thefrenchrevolution) The New Granada Revolution also occured due to Inequality. The Creoles were being discriminated and the king imposed the Bourbon reform which lead towards more discrimination towards them, this discrimination led to a revolt starting the revolution. (http://ponieshetland.wix.com/new-granada-rev)  Finally, the last revolution that was influenced greatly by inequality was the Haitian Revolution. The Haitian Revolution happened due to inequality since the slaves were being mistreated and they were not having any rights or where having very little of them.  This caused the people to revolt since their rights were as important as everyone elses rights. 4. Overall, what caused these populations to risk life and future by rebelling against the government. In other words: why did these revolutions take place, and why did so many of them take place during this period.

Many of these revolutions took place due to inequality and different ideas both parties had mainly influenced by the enlightenment period. The Glorious Revolution, had different ideas of the throne and who would take it. William of Orange thought that the king should not be Christian but instead be Protestant.  The king though was a Christian, William of Orange feared the catholic church and feared that it would overthrow the kings power. Since the king was Christian he feared it even more this led to a start of a revolution and the overthrow of the king (http://gabizav.wix.com/thegloriouscause) As said before many revolutions also happened due to inequality such as the Haitian Revolution which happened due to the little rights the slaves had which led to a revolt led by Toussaint l’Overture in 1791.(http://learnhaitirevolution.weebly.com/)  Overall many of the revolutions occured due to similiar ideas and opinions those being ideas brought by philosophers during the Enlightenment period or the society being inequal.
